2015 Quest for Quality: 3PLs’ strong competition, world-class results

Latest Material Handling News

According to the latest figures compiled by the third-party logistics consultancy Armstrong & Associates, major domestic 3PL players posted double-digit growth in 2014, with more of the same in this year’s forecast.

In the meantime, analysts at research giant Gartner have published their annual Magic Quadrant report that provides market intelligence on its premier list of lead logistics providers. The report notes that, increasingly, 3PLs have extended their services beyond the basics, providing opportunities to increase their value and resolve additional customer supply chain challenges.

Any way you slice it, it appears to be a good time to be a third-party logistics provider (3PL)—and according to both Armstrong and Gartner, it looks like the party is going to keep roaring along in terms of growth of services, new customers, and acquisitions that will take the leaders into new and emerging territory.

While the 3PL business has never been on stronger financial footing, LM readers tell us that the following 16 providers have offered world-class service over the past 12 months in what has become one of the most competitive categories in our entire Quest for Quality survey.
