Stanley Vidmar (Booth 1537) is partnering with Ban-Air to bring the “Outdoor Store” offering to the U.S. market. An Outdoor Store is a fully clad warehouse built around heavy-duty rack and featuring Stanley Vidmar’s Stak system devices for pallet lifting and handling.
An Outdoor Store can be quickly assembled on a concrete pad to create semi-permanent structures that fill the gap between permanent warehouse buildings and temporary outdoor storage using tents, said Andrew Gunn, managing director for Ban-Air at a press conference at the Stanley Vidmar booth on Tuesday.
“For little more than the cost of the rack systems for additional storage, you can have a building and a rack system,” said Gunn.
Gunn said eight Outdoor Stores are in use in Europe and Korea, mainly for the U.S. military. Commercial verticals the partners will target include railroads, utilities, large retailers and agricultural product dealers, as well as other markets that want to quickly and cost effectively expand storage capacity.
The Outdoor Stores, added Gunn, can be fully enclosed and double-skinned to allow for heating and electricity. Another option is solar panels in the roof, although the standard combination of steel and translucent panels reduces lighting requirements during daylight.
