Supply chain software at Frontline Solutions
By Bob Trebilcock, Editor at Large -- Modern Materials Handling, 8/30/2005
Software plays a bigger role than ever in supply chain management. Processes from order fulfillment to transportation to automatic data collection are all enabled and enhanced by supply chain software.
Along with automatic data capture technologies, supply chain software will be on display at Frontline Solutions Conference and Expo, the annual industry forum focused on the application of Auto-ID and information management technologies and solutions.
Held at Chicago’s Navy Pier, educational conferences will be offered from September 26 through 28. The expo will run from September 27 through 29.
The focus on software will begin with “Beyond RFID: Achieving business value through your supply chain using ‘real-world awareness,’”a keynote address by Ray Homan, a senior vice president with SAP. He will explain how new technologies, like RFID, work hand-in-hand with enterprise software solutions to deliver business value.
The logistics/warehousing conference track will cover software-related topics like how to implement warehouse management and visibility solutions to meet critical customer service demands; how optimized work direction can cut per-order pick times; and how new transportation and network optimization tools can improve supply chain performance.
The show will also include case studies of supply chain software in action, including how Belwith International uses a warehouse management system to manage products at major home improvement centers and retailers throughout North and South America.
