Modern’s associate editor Corinne Kator traveled to Crown Equipment Corporation’s home in New Bremen, Ohio, to get a first-hand introduction to two of Crown’s newest products: the RC5500 lift truck and the InfoLink fleet management system.
InfoLink fleet management system
With a user-friendly, on-board operator interface, the InfoLink system wirelessly communicates lift truck data to a central server. Through this technology, warehouse managers can compile data on how many hours each truck is in operation and control who can operate any given truck.
The system ensures safety inspections are conducted by each operator and manages planned maintenance programs. Additionally, the system monitors, tracks and alerts management to the occurrence and location of a collision.
RC5500 stand-up lift truck
The RC 5500 series stand-up counterbalanced lift truck protects operators from the shock and vibration of driving over dock plates and other rough surfaces with its FlexRide suspension system. Hip pads, foot rests, a contoured backrest and an optional adjustable armrest also contribute to operator comfort.
The contours of the truck and the placement of the pillars, mast and overhead guard provide a direct sightline to the front of the truck and its forks, maximizing visibility. Crown’s Intrinsic Stability System helps monitors performance based on the direction, speed, wheel angle and fork position of the truck and the weight of the load, helping to keep the truck in a safe operating condition.
