Temperature-controlled warehouse space grows
By Staff -- Modern Materials Handling, 5/1/2004
Total space for public, private and semi-private temperature-controlled warehouses grew nearly 4% during the past two years. That's according to the International Association of Refrigerated Warehouses (IARW). Total refrigerated and freezer space is now at 3.16 billion cubic feet. Of that, 2.36 billion cubic feet is public space, which grew at a 4.7% rate between 2001 and 2003. Meanwhile, private and semi-private space is now pegged at 802 million cubic feet, a 1.6% increase.
For a detailed listing of these facilities, IARW has published a directory that details location, capacity, temperature range, key personnel, dock availability and specialized services.
