FMC is now JBT
John Bean Technologies Corp. is the name, but the materials handling business stays the same ... for now.

The Automated Systems materials handling business of FMC Technologies Inc. has taken on a new name – JBT – after FMC completed the spinoff of its automated guided vehicle (AGV), aviation and food-processing businesses. These units will now be known as John Bean Technologies Corp., or JBT.
FMC made the move to focus on its core business – the production of loading, processing and other heavy industrial systems for the oil-and-gas industry.
“Our equipment is a lot different from those energy related businesses and their need for capital is a lot different from ours,” says JBT Automated Systems marketing manager, Mark Longacre. “We’ll be organized differently and a lot more appropriately for our businesses. Short term there will not be many changes for our Automated Systems business. Longer term we will be looking to grow the materials handling business. I think you’ll see new products and we may broaden into other product lines, not just AGVs.”
As JBT grows, it is likely to be fueled by internal growth or acquisition. But for now, the company will continue to sell and support its FMC Technologies AGVs – under the JBT logo. It will also go by that name on the New York Stock Exchange.
