The Defense Logistics Agency awarded global security company Lockheed Martin a 10-year contract to provide maintenance and parts to support all of the military’s land-based vehicles.
Using leading indicators from across the world and predictive analysis, Lockheed Martin will facilitate delivery of needed maintenance and replacement parts to the vehicles. The company’s SCM+ supply chain management solution will provide asset visibility information and progress-tracking metrics. The system is currently used to manage the logistics and warehousing for tires used on military aircraft.
The government will provide the funding for the four-year base period to begin work on the Fleet Automotive Support Initiative-Global (FASI-G) program, which primarily serves the Army and Marine Corps. The contract has a potential value of up to $5.6 billion over the next decade.
“For the warfighter, it comes down to having the right parts at the right place at the right time, every time,” said Dave Broadbent, vice president of operations and global sustainment for Lockheed Martin’s Maritime Systems and Sensors business.
