A recent “Green Supply Chain” study asked 250 corporate executives to identify the most important environmental issues facing their organizations. The most popular answer was waste disposal and recycling, beating out conservation of natural resources and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.
John Davies of AMR Research says he's not surprised companies are recognizing the value in having less to clean up. “The more you reduce waste, the more you reduce cost,” he says. “Very few initiatives get funded because they are green,” Davies adds. “They get funded because there is a return on investment.”
