It seems everyone has high expectations for radio frequency identification (RFID). But most of the focus has been on the volume of tags and readers that will be required. But senior analyst Erik Michielsen at technology research firm ABI says RFID product spending will be surpassed by system integration spending by 2007. He expects pressure to maximize integration will intensify as companies go beyond mere compliance with mandates and use RFID to change processes across the supply chain.
