ADC: Datalogic acquires Datasensor
ADC supplier will use the acquisition to expand into the industrial automation sector.

Automatic data capture (ADC) company Datalogic announced its acquisition of Datasensor, a photoelectric sensors and devices company.
According to a release from Datalogic, the deal will allow the two companies to strengthen their market positions in the industrial automation sector. Datasensor reports 2007 sales revenues of € 31.7 million ($43.9 million), and produces optoelectronic sensors and devices for detection, safety, measurement and inspection in industrial automation, including non-photoelectric sensors and temperature controllers.
The deal is worth € 45 million ($62.3 million).
Italian-based Datalogic, which produces bar code scanners, handheld scanners, data collection mobile computers and RFID systems, ranks No. 7 on Modern’s 2008 Top ADC suppliers list, with annual revenue of $578.7 million. Motorola is No. 1 with $2.05 billion.
