Supply chain software provider HighJump has acquired BelTek Systems Design Inc, a provider of direct store delivery software.
Since HighJump’s divestiture from 3M earlier this year, the company’s stated strategy has been to grow organically with its existing products and by acquiring other product lines, Chad Collins, HighJump vice president of marketing and strategy, told Modern.
“BelTek was a good acquisition from a product standpoint as well as their ability to be in markets HighJump wasn’t in,” Collins said. “We’re aggressively pursuing a growth strategy. One of the sectors is direct store delivery.”
Collins declined to name what other sectors or industries HighJump would be pursuing growth in.
In 2006, HighJump acquired Global Beverage, a provider of software for the direct-store-delivery of consumer packaged goods. Collins said that acquisition gave HighJump a market leading position in DSD, including beer, wine and spirits and bakery goods. BelTek will expand upon those markets and give the company a longer reach into the European market.
According to the release, the acquisition of BelTek strengthens HighJump Software’s DSD platform for route accounting and mobile sales and delivery. It also expands their industry reach. HighJump’s DSD customers are primarily focused in the soft drink, beer, wine and spirits, bakery, snack, candy and tobacco industries. BelTek brings in new industries, including packaged ice, linens and uniforms.
Collins said in the short term, HighJump will work to make the acquisition as seamless as possible for customers. “We’re very focused in our innovation planning,” he said. “They will continue to receive the level of support and services they expect.”
In the long term, there will be continued investment into BellTek products, as well as adopting their products for use by HighJump users.
“There are plans we have to invest in their products to make them applicable for industries our customers are in,” Collins said, using as an example the beer and soft drink industries, which require certain reporting abilities.
As for how HighJump now compares against its competitors, Collins said the company has the broadest coverage for DSD solutions across their industry range. HighJump is also able to offer technology architectures that can grow with customers, he said.
