By Mike Flamer -- Modern Materials Handling, 12/1/1998
In January, MHMS officially became part of the Material Handling Institute. Under the direction of Dr. Richard Ward, the Institute has acted in a supportive way to nurture the Society back to robust health. Bobbie Curtis, MHMS Executive Director, has brought leadership, enthusiasm and creativity to the Society. The results of this new leadership have been excellent.
The membership of the Society has doubled in ten months! Our retention through August is at an 80% level, the highest ever. The Society's offerings of educational materials and courses of study continue to expand. The value of an MHMS membership continues to grow. Not only can members receive genuine discounts on forums and educational materials, our MHMS website is becoming a gateway to new technologies and methodologies within the materials handling industry.
MHMS Annual Membership Meeting. MHMS management is pleased to kick off 1999 with our First Annual Membership Meeting which will be held in conjunction with the ProMat 99 Show and Forum, at McCormick Place in Chicago. Tompkins' address will feature ideas from his latest book, No Boundaries-Moving Beyond Supply Chain Management.
The MHMS conference registration fee of $195.00 for members includes the MHMS annual membership meeting luncheon on Monday, February 8; a ProMat 99 Forum seminar of your choosing on the 8th, 9th or 10th; the ProMat 99 keynote address by Jim Allred, President of Eskay Corporation, on Tuesday, the 9th; and the Forum plenary panel discussion on Wednesday, the 10th, chaired by Art St. Onge, President of the St. Onge Company.
