ProMat 2009: viastore systems introduces a stationary sequence buffer

viastore systems (Booth 4108) has developed a stationary sequence buffer, specifically designed to address the challenges of predicting the order picking time necessary for selecting, counting and packing components out of storage totes in conjunction with picking systems such as high-speed, multi-aisle, mini-load automated storage and retrieval systems.

Based on the already popular viaspeed storage/retrieval machine, the stationary sequence buffer is available in heights ranging up to 30 feet and uses a high-speed lateral belt transfer as the load-handling device in both single and double deep configurations. This load handling device is designed to handle plastic totes, corrugated cartons or metal trays depending on the requirement. It’s extremely fast, capable of providing cycle times of 2 seconds or less and throughput rates in excess of 140 totes per hour.

An important aspect of sequencing the right product for picking is ergonomics. viastore systems also featured a front end conveyor system, demonstrating its total integration capabilities, including powered roller conveyor and 90 degree tote/case turner, presenting the tote ergonomically to the picker.

viastore systems also introduced the ARC Curve, designed with a patented belt guidance system that allows a standard endless belt to be changed in 15 minutes with only two people. Requiring only the removal of the inner frame rail and a turn of the patented quick-release guide holders, changing the belt requires significantly less time and manpower than comparable models.
