Automated orderpicking system

By Staff -- Modern Materials Handling, 2/1/2005

DLS USA announced a fully automated, high-speed case picking system designed to handle the wide variety of products commonly found in food and beverage DCs. The DLS Order Release Module system is capable of processing high volumes of mixed cartons, trays, bags and other containers.

By being fully automated, the Order Release Module allows for a reduction of labor.

It offers throughputs of more than 10,000 items per hour, and can release completed store orders in under five minutes. Its storage lanes of automated flow rack are both belt driven and gravity-based at a 4% angle.

Specially designed, two-part rollers control the speed of the belt to limit line pressure, a leading cause of both product and roller damage. The lanes, which can accommodate up to 38 feet of product, can be stacked up to seven levels high. Output rates are up to 1,000 cases per hour, per level.
