ESYNC merges with TranSystems

By Staff -- Modern Materials Handling, 5/1/2007

After seven years as a stand-alone supply chain consulting firm, Toledo-based ESYNC (www.esync.com) is now a division of TranSystems (www.transystems.com) of Kansas City, Mo. TranSystems provides architecture, engineering and planning services as well as management and supply chain consulting to all sectors of the transportation industry.

Terms of the merger were not disclosed. All ESYNC management and staff have been retained. ESYNC principals and co-founders, John Sidell and Jim McNerney, are now principals at TranSystems. In addition, the ESYNC name will continue to be used.

“This is a great opportunity to combine TranSystems synergies with our business,” says Sidell. He points out that TranSystems’ international supply chain optimization capability along with its architectural and engineering business are quite complementary to ESYNC’s operations best practices, supply chain systems development and deployment expertise.

TranSystems is especially strong internationally, explains Sidell. He expects this will enhance ESYNC’s ability to build global supply chains for its clients.

“This is really an opportunity for us to capitalize on growth in the global supply chain consulting space,” says Sidell. ESYNC, he says, grew nearly 25% last year and is on track to do the same again in 2007.

This is not the first merger in this space for TranSystems. Other divisions include materials handling consulting firm St. Onge Ruff and materials handling simulation provider Automation Associates.
