The versatile robotic palletizer

Donald A. Vincent, executive vice president, Robotic Industries Association, (734-994-6088), sent the following statement concerning trends in robotic palletizing.
“The trend in the use of robots for palletizing and packaging is moving upward nicely as material handling has established itself as the leading application (42% of all applications in 2004) for the robotics industry. Comparing 2004 to 2003, robot orders for palletizing/packaging jumped 33.4% in units, while the dollar value increased 22.8%. Industries such as food, pharmaceuticals, electronics, aerospace and consumer goods are seeing the advantages from automating with robotic palletizing and packaging systems. Robots aren’t just for heavy manufacturing companies, or only for large companies. There’s enormous opportunity for robotic palletizing and packaging for small and medium size companies today.”
