Distribution conference to explore IT initiatives

By Staff -- Modern Materials Handling, 3/1/2005

Industry executives leading the charge in IT upgrades for distribution will present their experiences at a conference sponsored by the Grocery Manufacturers of America (GMA) (www.gmabrands.com).

Slated for April 11–13 in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., GMA's Information Systems and Logistics Distribution (IS/LD) Conference, "Flexibility at Lightning Speed," will feature industry professionals providing first-hand accounts of their company's best practices and strategies for implementing new IT and logistics initiatives and gaining significant advantages across their enterprises.

"Today's customer-centric supply chain requires flexible systems that are responsive to the ever-changing needs of retailers and, ultimately, the consumer," said GMA executive vice president Mark Baum.

"New technologies will help the CPG [consumer product goods] supply chain provide consumers with the right products in the right places at the right time. GMA's IS/LD Conference will provide industry leaders with the opportunity to address the challenges and opportunities of ensuring that we are using both proven and emerging technologies to optimize supply chain responsiveness and efficiency."

The conference will open with a keynote address from ConAgra Foods, Inc. chairman and CEO Bruce Rohde. Other featured speakers include: Kathy Lane, senior vice president and chief information officer of The Gillette Company; Kevin Smith, senior vice president of supply chain & logistics at CVS/Pharmacy; and Patrick Arlequeeuw, vice president of consumer driven supply network operating strategy at Procter & Gamble.
