Organizations join for disaster relief
By Staff -- Modern Materials Handling, 10/1/2008
Getting supplies and donations to regions affected by national disasters can be a major logistical challenge. In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, the American Logistics Aid Network (ALAN) was formed to coordinate the channeling of resources from member organizations to relief agencies.
Backing up the network are MHIA, CSCMP, MHEDA and other materials handling heavy hitters, all of which work to supplement the efforts of established and approved relief agencies. Since its formation two years ago, ALAN has worked with FEMA, State Emergency Operations Centers and Volunteer Organizations Active in Disasters.
You can now make donations at ALAN's Web site at www.alanaid.org.
