Print multiple networked jobs
Used for designing and printing industrial labels containing bar codes, text, graphics and RFID tags, version 8.0 of BarTender label software includes an enterprise print server. The server allows centralized print management of multiple network print jobs with a single copy of the program. Label jobs may be selected and printed from Web browsers on any operating system. Integration capabilities include TCP/IP connectivity to control the software from other programs, and automated XML format conversion using XSL style sheets to process XML print requests from Oracle's WMS and MSCA applications. A free trial edition is available for download from the supplier's Web site. Seagull Scientific, 800-758-2001, www.seagullscientific.com.
Scalable label output
Print Server version 9.1 label output management software generates all forms of bar code labels, including RFID and smart labels. The system drives high-volume, scalable print output management without altering or reading the managed forms. Applications provide the system with the document to be printed. In turn, the software directs the appropriate printer to produce the label, regardless of where that printer is located. Capable of running 800 jobs per minute to 300 individual printers, the scaleable system can produce more than 1 million labels in a continuous 24-hour period. Data management and printing
Providing automated, event-driven data management and AIDC printing, version 5.03 of the Sentinel S/5 Print Pack and Data Exchange software processes and maps enterprise-wide data collection and label printing requests regardless of the format, technology or system. Enhancements to the server-side printing software include support of label archive traceability and a backup server. Demos of the software are available at the supplier's Web site. Web-based printer management
Incorporating new features with a simplified user interface, the PrintNet enterprise suite offers Web-based printer management. The system works without handheld readers and does not require reprogramming. Features include an auto-ID data manager that audits bar code and RFID tag quality while verifying RFID tag encodings and a data stream adapter that implements new requirements on old software without modifying the original legacy code. The software's Automatic Job Capture function debugs network-related issues by electronically capturing a copy of the print job exactly as received by the printer. Direct multiple printers
Managing and controlling thermal transfer printers, inkjet printers and laser coding machines from a single platform is Prisym version 5.14 label design and production software. Features include multiple database linking, direct image scanning and importing of pictures into the label background and a new automation interface. RFID support and the ability to force time/date variables to a specific day of the week are also included. Incorporating industry standard bar codes, RFID tag encoding and database connectivity, the software generates all types of industrial codes and labels. By supporting double-byte characters, the software prints Chinese, Cyrillic and Arabic text. Prisym ID Limited, +44 (0)118 936 4400, www.prisymid.com.
Integrated RFID control
The EdgeMagic integrated RFID control software reads RFID tags and manages EPC compliance mandates, while working in conjunction with the IBM system i server ERP/WMS applications. Features include control of readers and edge devices, including fixed and handheld readers, light stacks, sensors and diverters. Complete tag commissioning and the MarkMagic print engine are integrated to support RFID smart label printers from several suppliers. The system also offers RFID tag validation and associates cases to pallets to maintain transport and load unit integrity. Cybra, 914-963-6600, www.cybra.com.
Retail compliance coding
Enabling retail suppliers and contract packagers to eliminate human error, increase productivity and streamline factory and warehouse management data, the Retail Compliance Coding package combines in-house hardware, software and professional services. Through network coding control, the product identification operation can be automated with customizable settings that meet unique requirements, including the integration of a complete line, date coding of consumer packages and single operation bar code labeling of shipping units. Check-weighing equipment, metal detectors and digital coders can be incorporated into the network. Markem Corporation, 800-322-0057, www.markem.com.
