Overdock pallet storage racking

The overdock pallet storage rack provides a secure place for empty pallets in the loading/shipping area to eliminate clutter and prevent tipping and damage associated with floor-based storage. Also useful for skids or returnable shipping containers, the system consists of two shelves installed above a 12-foot-wide dock door, yielding up to 100 square feet of additional storage space. The rack is attached to the cement floor with freestanding, heavy-duty conventional uprights. Single leg configuration allows forklift clearance and adds no load to a facility's roof structure. The rack is offered in three standard configurations or may be customized to unique specifications. Steel King Industries, 800-826-0203, www.steelking.com.

Drive-in storage rack

Drive-in storage rack systems save space and money by storing products on continuous rails that permit lift trucks to directly enter the structure to place and retrieve pallets. Fewer aisles are required to increase storage density and reduce costs. As a high-density, last-in/first-out system, the racks are built on roll-formed rail for strength and rigidity. Features include top bracing for column rigidity and rack stability and slant back frames and column reinforcement to protect against accidental lift truck impact damage. Durable supports secure the rails to the upright frame and continuous fillet welding permanently bonds the channel rail supports to the connection plate. Ridg-U-Rak, 866-479-7225, www.ridgurak.com.

Secure rack partitioning

For fast and easy installation, the EZ-Matrix security wire partition system features a simple-to-use clip for quick attachment and minimal installation time. The system consists of 2 x 2 inch square, 8-gauge welded wire mesh for strength and security. For enhanced rigidity, each panel includes a stiffening bend. Wireway Husky, 800-438-5629, www.wirewayhusky.com.

Racking resists earthquakes

For use in areas where seismic activity or other severe conditions are likely, the Pallet Rack Plus system consists of a beam and upright frame that offers greater lateral stability through larger beam end connectors and footplates. Beams include four-prong end connectors for a tighter connection with more surface area between the beam and the upright post. For even load distribution, the beam is welded 3 inches down from the top of the connector. All beams have a beam locking key to prevent accidental dislodging by materials handling equipment. Upright frames include two, 35-square-inch oversized footplates in five load capacities. Standard heights range from 48 to 240 inches. Penco Products, 800-562-1000, www.pencoproducts.com.

Modular panels create instant flow rack

Pre-assembled Flow Bed panels drop in to any existing rack structure to create a full-width carton flow level. Their modular construction makes the units ideal for operations that handle a variety of product widths, frequent changes in product mix or regular re-slotting of SKUs. Measuring either 18 or 12 inches, the track panels provide maximum conveying space per axle to increase product contact. This produces better product flow from load point to pick point. Features include HDPE rollers with 2- or 3-inch centers, 13 gauge galvanized steel side channels and a maximum weight capacity of 50 pounds per square foot. Hangerless, low-profile, deck or flow cell end treatments may be specified. Unex Manufacturing, 800-695-7726, www.unex.com.

Anti-static flow rack

An ESD-rated ergonomic flow rack stores and presents parts and components to technicians at a workstation while safeguarding static sensitive electronics during assembly. The flow rack structure is assembled from conductive plastic-coated steel pipe with nickel plated joints. Slide pipes with a molded plastic flat surface have a low coefficient of friction to allow parts and totes to easily slide along the sloped surface. Optionally, skatewheel style conveyor sections, full width rollers or solid surfaces may be used for flow. Inclined lane and shelf levels position parts and components for easy retrieval. To ensure the rack and workstation align properly for smooth operation, guide bars are included. The rack may also be used in stand-alone situations. Creform, 800-839-8823, www.creform.com.
