Staff -- Modern Materials Handling, 11/10/2009

Kevin Hume, a systems expert with more than 22 years of experience in the supply chain industry, has joined Tompkins Associates as a principal with the Supply Chain Information Technology team.

"Tompkins Associates' Supply Chain Information Technology team is packed with experts and specialists who have been in the field for many years and really know their stuff," says Hume.

"The broad footprint of the team spans the entire supply chain from global sourcing and inventory management to business case development, as well as selection and implementation of supply chain executions systems," Hume adds. "With these end-to-end services and expertise, the Supply Chain Information Technology team is way ahead of its competition."

Prior to joining Tompkins Associates, Hume served in a variety of supply chain industry and consulting roles, including: director of supply chain consulting services for TranSystems|ESYNC; director of fulfillment systems for eToys; senior supply chain consultant for AnswerThink for WMS implementations; and project manager for BDM/MARC Global, responsible for leading the implementations of their WMS solution.

"To meet clients' needs for more efficient operations and higher visibility as we come out of the recession, Tompkins' Supply Chain Information Technology group is strengthening its already solid systems and global technology services," says Jim Tompkins, president and CEO of Tompkins Associates. "Kevin's energy and experience will help us reach our objectives and advance the goals of our clients."

Hume is a pioneer in the field of Internet retail fulfillment and is a recognized authority in the areas of distribution facility design as well as warehouse management system (WMS) justification, selection and integration. He is based in California.

The Supply Chain Information Technology group is also leading the industry with its new blog, which premieres this month.
