Did you know that the half life of any professional degree is five years? Professionals risk becoming "obsolete" in 10 years if they don't update their education and job skills. A winning professional engages in a process of continuous learning and, in turn, continuous improvement. The Materials Handling & Management Society (MHMS) is committed to providing opportunities for that continuous improvement by helping to accelerate the knowledge flow and easing your access to educational resources. Through MHMS, you can obtain professional certification, learn new business techniques, and take advantage of a variety of activities that boost your knowledge and abilities. You can also earn continuing education units by attending the educational sessions conducted in conjunction with the North American Material Handling Show and Forum (NA98) to be held in Detroit, Mich., March 30th through April 2nd, 1998. MHMS members can register at a discount off the regular session prices.
For more information, visit the MHMS Web site by accessing http:// www.mhia.org/mhms. The Society's online presence on the World Wide Web, as part of the Material Handling Industry online home page, continues to be an important means for Internet users to learn more about MHMS, including our training programs, correspondence courses, certification, and discounts on educational programs.
In addition to the opportunities provided through the national MHMS organization and online, undoubtedly you will find a wellspring of knowledge, experience, and collective strength by networking with peers through local chapter activities. Among other localized activities, MHMS chapters conduct plant tours and technical educational sessions. Contact the chapter in your area (see box above) for more information on local activities and check out the chapter on our Web site.
