Conveyor with pop-up chain stacks pallets

By Staff -- Modern Materials Handling, 3/1/1998

This pallet stacking operation features a 2-tiered, multiple zone CDLR conveyor with pop-up chain transfers. A pallet de-stacker loads empty pallets onto the bottom tier. Pop-up chain transfers move the empty pallets onto CDLR conveyors on lift tables.

When pallets are full, lift tables move to the same height as that of the upper tier, from where full pallets move via conveyor ultimately to a stretch wrapper. CDLR conveyors are available in 5 roller sizes in widths from 13 in. to 73 in., and lengths up to 80 ft. Pop-up chain transfers have a standard lift capacity of 2500 lb per transfer, in 3, 3, and 4 strand versions.
