Roundtable explores MES, open manufacturing
Roundtable keynoter, Sun Microsystems vp Ron Lloyd: Java for the 21st century manufacturer.

Need to learn more about what a manufacturing execution system (MES) is and what it might do for your company's operations and shop floor? Then consider this upcoming event: MES Roundtable 9, in Framingham, Mass., near Boston, April 26-28, Sunday through Tuesday."Open manufacturing in the network age" is the roundtable's theme. Manufacturers who are end users of the software and MES vendors will be present to explain MES uses and benefits. Sessions on Monday will cover use of MES in electronics assembly, for example, along with data acquisition and supply chain management strategies. Tuesday sessions include separate discussions on MES for pharmaceutical, batch, and discrete product manufacturing as well as the software's applicability to small- and medium-sized manufacturers.
Sun Microsystems vice president, worldwide manufacturing, Ron Lloyd, kicks off the event with a keynote on the topic, "Java: Enabling 21st Century Manufacturing."
