By Mike Flamer -- Modern Materials Handling, 3/1/1998
Editor's note: March is the show preview issue; MHMS president Mike Flamer directs his remarks to that event. On behalf of the Board of Directors and the members of the Material Handling & Management Society (MHMS), welcome to NA 98, the North American Material Handling Show and Forum!
During your visit, you will see a wide variety of systems, equipment, and services designed to help you do a better job in the movement of goods through the supply chain process.
Questions to think about as you tour the show include:
- Will you understand the complex interrelationships between the various pieces of equipment from a systems point of view?
- Can you analyze the benefits of a new piece of equipment for your company?
If advances in technology surpass your knowledge base, it's time for your education to catch up to reality. It's time to join MHMS.
A membership in MHMS is your link to a wide variety of educational resources:
Correspondence courses. MHMS offers four distinct courses designed for the busy professional: Material Handling; Material Management I; Material Management II; and Material Handling Engineering. Each course is organized for individual study at home, office, or when on the road. Each student is assigned an instructor who monitors the course of study.
Resource library. The Material Handling Institute (MHI) is the largest repository of material handling technical information in the country. As an MHMS member, tap into this vast information resource for yourself or your company at a significant savings over non-members.
Use the MHMS Internet site. This resource offers members an opportunity to read the latest technical papers and interact with material handling professionals. This site is an absolute must for tracking hard-to-find resources. Turn your browser to www.mhia.org/mhms.
While at the show, visit the MHI booth (#2041) and pick up a membership application form, if you're not yet a member. Join now! And enjoy the show.
