Council forms on automation technologies
By Staff -- Modern Materials Handling, 5/1/1998
Automation Technologies Council (ATC) is the new umbrella organization formed to represent companies making, integrating, or using robotics, machine vision, and related technologies. ATC was founded by Robotic Industries Association (RIA) and the Automated Imaging Association (AIA), trade groups that together represent more than 340 companies."North American companies invest more than $2 billion per year for robotics and machine vision products, plus billions more in motion control, simulation, sensors, and other factory automation technologies," says Charlie Duncheon, president of RIA and chairman of the new Council.
"There's a growing need for accurate information on automation technologies and their integration," adds Duncheon, "along with up-to-date information on leading suppliers." The exec hopes to build ATC into a resource for companies looking for such information and for suppliers wanting to find customers.
