Perkins receives "Oscar" for lift truck engine

At the annual Fork Truck Association Awards for Excellence held in Birmingham, England, Perkins Engines swept the "Contribution to Protecting the Environment" category, with its 704.26 diesel engine. The award was picked up on the strength of its ultra low emissions.

The engine is completely free of visible smoke when in operation and produces little odor. Noise reduction was made possible by computer-based finite element modeling techniques and predictive mathematical tools. Additionally, the 2.6 liter 57 bhp engine requires no special service tools.
