Light duty conveyor is flexible, reliable

The editors covered a number of innovative products and systems at press conferences and presentations held during the 1998 North American Material Handling Show and Forum in Detroit. The following is a sampling of what we saw.

By Staff -- Modern Materials Handling, 6/1/1998

Reliable spinning tube technology for carrier propulsion is one of the benefits of the Roborail light duty conveyor. A reversible drive wheel mounted on the carrier moves the carrier forward or backward as it makes contact with the spinning tube. Using nine basic modular components of extruded aluminum, Roborail configures to adapt to most facility layouts.

In addition to straight and curved track sections, other components can be added to provide carrier accumulation, change carrier direction, provide vertical travel, and to merge or divert carriers on or off the main line. The conveyor also uses PLC controls and RF communication. Roborail can be mounted on the floor or ceiling. The system is well-suited for applications requiring the integration of manual and automatic work stations. SI Handling Systems 800-523-9464
