Stacking system stores heavy items

The editors covered a number of innovative products and systems at press conferences and presentations held during the 1998 North American Material Handling Show and Forum in Detroit. The following is a sampling of what we saw.

By Staff -- Modern Materials Handling, 6/1/1998

These removable, vertically adjustable pallets store large, heavy items using the built-in captive mast with forks. A single person can retrieve heavy items, eliminating the need for a lift truck in storage areas.

Two models of the Stak System, the 2K and 4K, have shelf capacities of 2000 lb and 4000 lb, respectively. The captive mast device on the 4K system provides automated motion on all four directional axes. Control pods have directional controls oriented to the position of the operator. The system can be arranged with the racking in a straight line or on both sides of a single aisle. Stanley Storage Systems 800-523-9462
