New resources on the web

There's a new feature on both online versions of Modern Materials Handling and ADC News & Solutions. We've added a library of tradeshow coverage from both magazines. Just click on the "Calendar" button on either web site to find links to both print and online reports we've done on some of the major industry trade shows in the past year.

This is a great resource, not only for anyone who didn't make it to such events as the North American Material Handling Show, Scan-Tech, or ID Expo, but for those who did attend but want to see what they may have missed. And if you need information about the latest offerings in materials handling equipment, our show coverage is a great place to start.

We've also enhanced the Design Plans & Ideas (DPI) portion of the site; it's now easier to navigate. One example: When you look at one of our warehouse floorplans, you can click on any section of it to find out which vendor supplied the equipment for that portion of the operation. To find the DPI supplements online, just click on the Design Plans & Ideas logo at the top of the Modern Materials Handling home page.

Our column on automatic data collection standards, promised last month, now is on ADC News & Solutions Online. This column is available only online, not in print. Written by AIM International technical director Steve Halliday, the column will keep you up to date on standards efforts. As each new column is written, past columns will remain accessible. And you'll always find a glossary of commonly used standards-related acronyms. We'll add to that list as needed, and provide links to many of the standards organizations.

Halliday's first column covers a hot topic: radio frequency identification (RFID). While this technology isn't new, only now is it just starting to build momentum. Many RFID suppliers are talking about the need for standards to extend the breadth of RFID use.
