Packaging mergers up

The flexible packaging industry continued to consolidate at a record pace in 1997. Thirty-two mergers and acquisitions took place, up from 21 in 1996. That trend is expected to continue as 44% of manufacturers say they are planning a domestic merger or acquisition in 1998.This, and other information about the flexible packaging industry, can be found in The State of the Industry Report 1998, published by the Flexible Packaging Association (FPA).
The value of flexible packaging shipments are estimated to increase 3.7% to reach $18.1 billion in 1998.
