Analysis examines component failure

By Staff -- Modern Materials Handling, 10/1/1998

A recent survey of industry decision-makers uncovered that nearly one-third (28%) of participants say they frequently experience re-occurring failures in the same or similar components, while only 13% indicate "almost never" experiencing these re-occurring failures. These are some of Altran Corporation's survey findings on Failure Analysis for Industry. Other findings include:

- 98% of participants say their company performs failure analysis, 61% say the process is effective only some of the time.

- 69% of survey respondents say a lack of internal resources constrains their performance of failure analysis.

- 60% of participating industry decision-makers blame time limitations for hindering their performance of failure analysis.
