New generation of Swing-Reach trucks roll out
By Staff -- Modern Materials Handling, 10/1/1998
Very narrow aisle (VNA) forklift operations can climb to new heights of productivity with the latest generation of Swing-Reach trucks from Raymond, according to the manufacturer.Included among the new features on these trucks is the Vehicle Navigation Assistant-a Windows-like digital screen display positioned at the end of the right arm rest in the truck's cab. This display permits the operator to scroll easily to a display of details on the vehicle's speed, load height and weight, fork position, wire guidance status, steer tire direction, battery state-of-charge, and other operational performance factors. Similarly, maintenance information can be displayed on the digital screen.
With its swivel seat, the truck's operator can look left or right to glance at upcoming picks or to get a clear view between the twin masts of the aisle and racking. This seat is fully adjustable and ergonomically contoured and has a lumbar support.
Versatility is one major benefit from this truck; it can serve as both a pallet handler and as a case picker. With sidegates and control arms raised the vehicle has a wide case picking "window." With them down, pallet load handling can readily take place.
Whether moving at floor level or fully elevated, the truck's three-point stance ensures stability.
