Pallets, trucks, the supply chain, and jobs

What do all these things have in common? You can find information about all of them on the web. Here are some places to look.

The vendor member organization, National Wooden Pallet & Container Association, has a site, www.nwpca.com, with helpful features for pallet users. NWPCA member companies are listed by state, for example, so prospective pallet buyers can locate vendors in their area. The listing tells what products and services these vendors offer.

The site also includes information about pallet quality assurance programs and design and construction standards. And there's advice on how to select the proper pallet for a particular application.

The Industrial Truck Association site, www.indtrk.org, lists ITA-member manufacturers for each class of industrial truck. There's also a list of associate member products, including accessories like forks, tires, masts, batteries, and chargers. And there is material on operator training resources as well as standards for truck operation, design, and maintenance.

The Supply-Chain Council's purpose is to improve supply-chain management via a dialogue among customers, retailers, distributors, manufacturers, and suppliers. Its web site, www.supply-chain.com, includes news of council activities, a list of supply-chain books, and lists of technology providers and consultants. You also can look at a web version of a presentation on the Supply-Chain Operations Reference model.
