New places to get product information
By Martha Spizziri -- Modern Materials Handling, 11/1/1998
Here's an update on a few useful web sites that have come to our attention recently.First on the list is the site for the company ErgoWeb (www.ergoweb. com). The company offers ergonomic software, consulting, and training services. Its web site includes information on ergonomic standards and guidelines, OSHA compliance, professional organizations, and so forth. Users also can sign up to participate in a discussion group. ErgoWeb also offers Job Evaluator ToolBox software, designed to help identify and manage workplace ergonomic concerns. A free demo version of the software can be ordered via a form on the site.
ErgoWeb has launched a new site called ErgoBuyer (www.ergobuyer.com). This site includes a directory of ergonomic product and service providers, information on training courses, and answers to such questions as, "What is ergonomics?" and "How do I know if a product is ergonomically designed?" Also included is a page providing the economic case for investing in sound ergonomics.
Finally, we've made it easier to obtain product information via our web sites, Modern Materials Handling Online and ADC News & Solutions Online. You now can request information on products written about or advertised in our magazine online. Much like what happens when you send in one of the reader service cards in our magazine, your request will be forwarded to the product's manufacturer. The difference is, your inquiry will reach the manufacturer more quickly when you use the web.
To ask for information online, just click the product information button on the front page of either site. You'll be taken to the Cahners Connection, where you can search for information by issue and by the product circle number printed in the issue.
