A new way to get product information
By Martha Spizziri -- Modern Materials Handling, 12/1/1998
We've recently added a new feature that makes it easier for you to request information about the products you read about in Modern Materials Handling and ADC News & Solutions. If you're reading the online version of one of our stories, you'll see that in most cases when products are mentioned there is a 'Press here' button next to the product name. Clicking that button brings you an online request form, where you can simply click the check box next to the product name and then click 'Submit.' Your name and address will be forwarded to the vendor, who will send literature on the item in question.
Any story that has a circle number in the print version of our magazines will include a product request button online. In many cases, a button at the bottom of the story lets you request information on multiple products at the same time.
Elsewhere on the web, we've discovered a site called Autoideas.com (www.autoideas.com). The site's founder is Jerry Weinstock, a 14-year veteran of the auto ID industry who has worked for Unimark, KeyTronic Corp., and Graphic Technology. He also has been an active member of AIM USA, chairing that organization's Bar Code Council, Bar Code Executive Committee, and CEO Liaison Committee.
Autoideas.com provides tips for dealing with automatic identification technology. The tips, which come from auto ID vendors and end-users with real-world experience, are practical and specific. Recent ideas have included the best way to use pallet tags, what to do with bar codes that look okay but won't scan, and how to check bar code quality if you don't have a verifier. You can sign up to receive weekly tips via e-mail, free of charge. Previous tips are archived on the site.
