Industry R&D to rise 9%

By Staff -- Modern Materials Handling, 2/1/1999

Expect U.S. industry to pump up its level of research and development spending by 9% this year, to a total of $157 billion. That's at a pace significantly better than the rate of inflation. So predicts the annual forecast by Battelle-R&D Magazine.

Battelle senior researcher J.J. Duga believes higher spending levels will be a trend continuing into the 21st century, barring economic downturns.

Details of the forecast appear in the January issue of R&D Magazine, a Cahners Business Information publication. Call 847-390-2623 for information.
