To the editor

By Staff -- Modern Materials Handling, 3/1/1999

In the December 1998 issue of MMH you noted plastic container innovations to a greater degree than the engineered plastic components used in packaging machines and material handling equipment.

Plastic components are used as chain guides, belt guides, pulleys, cams, and other mechanical parts found on packaging machinery. Plastic components are responsible for producing machine attributes such as speed and minimal maintenance.

These attributes are important for maintaining a competitive edge for the product packager. Machine builders also use plastics for certain machine components because they can be cost-effectively machined.

Sincerely, Thomas R. Sioui, vice president Slideways, Inc.
