Enhanced WMS speeds multiple order loading

For managing the flow of materials through the supply chain, here are some of the latest developments in warehouse management and transportation management systems, as well as advanced planning and enterprise resource planning software.

A warehouse management system features an enhanced shipping lane functionality that allows staging of orders at the dock door. This facilitates the loading of multiple orders on trucks in the correct sequence for delivery. Additional upgrades include enhanced radio frequency receiving capabilities, resource reporting and activity tracking, proactive replenishment planning, and assembly management. With the last feature, multiple stock keeping units (SKUs) can be picked, assembled into new SKUs, and reintroduced to warehouse inventory.
