Mid-size manufacturers see profits up in 1999
By Staff -- Modern Materials Handling, 3/1/1999
Even though there's uncertainty about the national economic outlook, mid-size manufacturers (yearly sales $20 million to $500 million) predict their profitability will climb this year. In a Grant Thornton survey, 57% of the firms' top execs were optimistic about the U.S. economy. Nearly two-thirds believe 1999 profits will rise above 1998 levels, while 24% say earnings will be about the same this year versus last year.
