Accusort buys bar code scanning line

Rockwell Automation will sell its Allen-Bradley AdaptaScan line of bar code scanning products to Accusort Systems, Inc. Accusort will assume full ownership rights to the AdaptaScan product line by October 1, 1999. After that date, the product line will be sold as Accusort branded products."This is one of many steps we are taking to meet customer needs while efficiently managing our business," says John McDermott of Rockwell Automation. "We expect the relationship with Accusort to be a major benefit to us and our customers."
Rockwell Automation retains exclusive selling rights to the product line until the October 1 date. Staffing changes are not immediately expected.
"As a leader in the automatic identification industry, this agreement and relationship will open up additional growth opportunities among users of Allen-Bradley control products," says Accusort president Jim Wahle. "This will accelerate Accusort's move into the automotive and consumer product industries where Rockwell Automation enjoys a strong presence."
Accusort is also an approved Rockwell Automation Encompass Program partner and will have numerous products referenced in the program.
