Single-deep AS/RS device accesses all lanes

For your planning purposes: use our literature section to find the materials handling equipment or system that fits your needs.

By Staff -- Modern Materials Handling, 5/15/1999

This single-deep automated storage and retrieval (AS/RS) system provides expanded access to pallets in the warehouse with only one storage retrieval machine (SRM). The number of SRMs is therefore throughput driven. Captive to one main aisle, the SRM transports the pallet-transport device to the appropriate lane entrance. The device then leaves the SRM, drives down the lane to the designated storage position and deposits or accesses the load. It then returns to the SRM. The system handles 50-70 pallets per hour.
