The dog days of summer are upon us. The kids are out of school. Vacations are planned. Yet the nation's materials handling needs still have to be met. Some of these "down" times are the best times to bring your knowledge of materials handling equipment, systems, and technology up to date. Your clients and customers may be on vacation, but their distribution centers and supply chains keep on humming, their demands continue. There are a variety of educational and training options available through the Materials Handling and Management Society (MHMS). The Society offers educational resources including courses that allow you to study at home, under the supervision of trained faculty. MHMS courses range from Materials Handling Engineering to Materials Management to Economic Justification. They are ideal for the traveling professional, since the courses are designed for study alone.
New in 1999 is a series of one- and two-day workshops to be conducted this November in Baltimore, Md. The workshops include:
- "The Basics of Material Handling: Concepting Solutions and Applications." This is a two-day short course designed for end users and field service/application specialists.
- "Introduction to Marketing to the U.S. Material Handing Industry." This is a one-day workshop designed for both new and experienced sales and marketing personnel.
- "Value-Added Sales Training for the Material Handling Industry." This is a one-day short course designed for professionals engaged in selling materials handling equipment and systems.
- "An Introduction to the Economic Justification of Material Handling Investments." This is a one-day short course designed for individuals with little or no formal training in economic evaluation.
If you would like more information on these workshops and other programs offered by the Society, contact us at 704/676-1183 or visit our web site at www.mhia.org/mhms.
All of these resources are available to you, the MHMS member. In addition, your membership entitles you to use our on-line website, which contains additional reference materials not available elsewhere, and only available to members.
