Arrowhead Acquisition Partners acquires two packaging equipment companies

By Staff -- Modern Materials Handling, 8/1/1999

Arrowhead Acquisition Partners LLC has acquired two more packaging machinery companies: Busse, Inc. and S.J. Industries, Inc. (SJI).

Based in Randolph, Wis., Busse is a leader in bulk palletizing and depalletizing equipment. SJI is based in Alexandria, Va., and manufactures equipment for the container-filling line at beverage and food processing plants.

Privately held Busse, Inc, was acquired from one of the world's largest material handling companies, Pinnacle Automation, Inc., based in St. Louis, Mo. Busse offers a line of low, medium, and high-speed equipment for high or low level palletizing and depalletizing of empty metal, glass, composite, and PET containers.

SJI manufactures water and air rinsers; warmers and spray coolers; case, pallet, and slipsheet washers; twist rinsers; and accumulation conveyors.

These acquisitions are the second step the partners have taken toward building an organization of independent companies that can work together to provide integrated systems for the packaging line at consumer goods manufacturing plants.

"Our goal is to develop an organization of industry front runners, each offering the best equipment of its type for the packaging line," says Thomas J. Young, one of four owner-managers comprising Arrowhead Acquisition Partners. "Given the breadth and quality of product offered by the three companies we have assembled to date, we have established a solid foundation for becoming a major force in the packaging machinery industry."

Arrowhead Conveyor, the first company to be acquired by Arrowhead Acquisition Partners, manufactures a full line of standard and customized material handling equipment for manufacturing operations. Its product lines include tabletop conveyors for transporting and accumulating containers and pallet conveyors.
