No bar code? No problem!
By Staff -- Modern Materials Handling, 9/1/1999
An imaging system permits fully automatic sortation of items whether they have a bar code label or not. For those items with either a linear or 2-D bar code, the system's camera simply reads the symbol and sends the information to the sortation system. Those items without a bar code are transferred to remote key-entry stations where operators enter person-readable data on the item's label. Label information from non-bar coded parcels can be linked to a unique tracking number or be used to generate a machine-readable label for further automatic sorting.Accu-Sort Systems
