Alvey to provide e-commerce and fulfillment services
By Staff -- Modern Materials Handling, 9/1/1999
Alvey Systems, Inc. has formed an e-commerce business unit to provide order fulfillment systems and solutions to manufacturers and producers of durable and non-durable consumer goods. The e-commerce division will create alliances with providers of web commerce services to offer manufacturers one point of contact for all their web commerce and value chain needs."A new business model is emerging in which manufacturers-not just retailers-are offering goods directly to the end consumer," says Michael W. Brown, president of Alvey Integrated Business Solutions (IBS). "Our ability to offer total value chain solutions, from order capture to order fulfillment, is a natural extension of the integrated materials flow and information flow services currently offered by Alvey's IBS division."
James M. Cahill, vice president of new business development, will oversee Alvey's e-commerce operations. Cahill is responsible for the strategic direction of the e-commerce division, including the development of alliances with outside providers and new business development. Cahill is also responsible for coordinating Alvey's e-commerce activities with the other Pinnacle Automation companies including The Buschman Company, Real Time Solutions, and White Systems, Inc.
