WMS market reaches $680 million

By Staff -- Modern Materials Handling, 1/1/2000

The North American market for warehouse management systems (WMS) totaled $680 million in 1998, according to preliminary results from a market study by Venture Development Corporation (VDC). The top five suppliers of WMS software and services only, based on 1998 revenue, include Catalyst, EXE Technologies, Manhattan Associates, McHugh Software, and the Summit Group (now Intrepa), according to VDC.

Despite some lingering effects of Y2K issues, the WMS market should grow approximately 20% annually for the next 2 years, says the study. However, VDC predicts a 5 year cumulative average growth rate of 17% through 2002, as the largest end user companies become increasingly saturated and smaller companies become the primary end user growth category.
