Consolidated distribution system cuts costs

By Staff -- Modern Materials Handling, 1/1/2000

With A-frame speed and pick-to-light flexibility, this system combines picking, sorting, consolidation, shipping, replenishment, and returns into a single-touch, high-throughput distribution system. Orders can be automatically sorted and consolidated directly into shipping containers. Light-directed picking and bar code scanning ensure high accuracy levels. Reduced labor and reductions in the number of totes and containers required by the system provide increased cost efficiencies. Users can match peak activity periods without added equipment or space investments.
