A 320,000 sq. ft. assembly plant and a 90,000 sq. ft. office building are the latest Rapistan Systems acquisitions. Rapistan purchased the two existing buildings located in the Grand Rapids, MI area, from Smiths Industries to accommodate recent and projected growth requirements.Rapistan will immediately use the assembly plant to fulfill a $170 million contract for a 175 unit order of flat sorting machines to be delivered to the U.S. Postal Service later this year. The office building will be completely reconfigured and operational by April 2000. Both facilities will free up manufacturing and office space on the main Rapistan campus for the distribution and warehousing business unit.
Rapistan Systems, a division of Mannesmann Dematic, offers materials handling solutions for manufacturing, distribution, parcel, freight, air cargo, and baggage handling operations-from concept through implementation. Mannesmann Dematic is the world's largest supplier of materials handling systems.
