Last year's e-Christmas is proof enough that e-business and e-commerce is all e-nothing unless the right product gets to the right customer on time. Warehousing, distribution center, and logistics professionals need the tools to make this happen. Enter Distribution/ Computer Expo 2000.This year's D/C Expo starts on April 4 with a full day of seminars at Chicago's Hyatt Regency Downtown. On the 5th and 6th, more than 250 exhibitors will be on hand at nearby Navy Pier to show off the latest advances in supply chain software.
This year's seminar lineup features a keynote speaker for the first time. On Wednesday April 5th, Jim Tompkins, president and founder of Tompkins and Associates will speak on "The 10 principles of the e-supply chain" that will help logistics professionals make the most of the e-commerce and supply chain revolution.
Why so much focus on e-business this year, you might ask. "Everyone is jumping on the electronic bandwagon, it's the new way of conducting business," says show co-owner Tom Dulaney. "A lot of stuff is happening very quickly and none of us know where it's going to end, but e-business is going to be a big part of it."
An increased number of educational sessions (77) will reflect the new world of logistics, including 15 sessions devoted to e-business and e-commerce. Another 15 sessions will focus on supply chain management and execution. Eighteen sessions on warehousing, 10 on transportation, and nine sessions on distribution and logistics round out the conference program.
A special session on Wednesday will focus on e-supply chain visibility and a product that enables users to gain visibility over your supply chain by means of a Web browser. Additional session topics include achieving warehouse excellence, real-time logistics collaboration, managing global commerce, and advanced supply chain management.
